A494 LLANBEDR-DYFFRYN-CLWYD DRAINAGE IMPROVEMENT

16 Feb 2009

Work on further improvements to the drainage system on the A494 at Llanbedr Dyffryn Clwyd will start on 23rd February for 6 weeks subject to weather conditions. Because of the narrowness of the road at this point lane closures, utilising a convoy working system with a 10mph restriction, will be needed.

Every effort has been made to ensure disruption is minimal, and the restrictions will be removed during the weekend, but delays are likely and drivers are advised to allow extra time for their journeys. No diversion route is proposed.

The North Wales Trunk Road Agency and the Welsh Assembly Government regret the inconvenience to the travelling public whilst these essential works are being carried out, however these restrictions are necessary to ensure the safety of road users and workers.

Wide loads will be restricted through the works area, with a system in place to restrict movement at advanced locations on the A494, and arrangements made to escort vehicles through the works safely.

The improvements will include replacement of the existing inadequate drainage system and will tie into the previous improvements undertaken in 2006, the watercourse reinforcement scheme, completed late 2002 and the Pentre Smithy Culvert Improvement, completed in March 2007.

Further information on the A494 can be obtained on the website of the North Wales Traffic Control Centre, www.nwales-traffic.co.uk
