M4 JUNCTION 11 BUSY ON WEDNESDAY FOR READING vs CARDIFF MATCH AT MADEJSKI STADIUM

16 Sep 2009

Drivers travelling on the M4 to the Madjeski Stadium to see Reading FC play Cardiff City should allow plenty of time for their journeys this evening (Wednesday 16 September.)

There are roadworks on the M4 at junctions 15 & 16 near Swindon and also at Reading.

Road users are also urged to take into account Reading Borough Council's ongoing £65m scheme to improve Reading’s main traffic gateway - junction 11 of the M4 - when planning their journeys.

Around 21,000 football fans are expected to travel to the match, and with stadium doors opening at 6.30pm, the M4 and local roads are expected to be very busy as traffic approaches the evening peak.

Fans are also encouraged to leave the M4 around junction 11 soon after the match as from around 2230 to 0600, there will be a full closure of the M4 affecting traffic traveling east and westbound, with drivers diverted off at the exit slips, across the intersection at the top and back down again to rejoin the main carriageway.

Traffic Wales and the Highways Agency advise drivers to plan their journeys before they set out and to use an alternative route this evening if not going to the match.
